Surfing Fiji this week ...by surf guide Tim

This week the southeast swell provided great waves on Monday and Tuesday with solid 6ft waves breaking at Wilks. The east south east wind made the waves a little bumpy in the afternoon but plenty of good sections still on offer. Wednesday the winds eased and clean solid 5ft waves were enjoyed in the afternoon with only a small crew of around 5 surfers enjoying Wilks.

Thursday and Friday the swell dropped off to around 3ft and good beachbreaks were surfed at Sigatoka. An awesome session on Friday afternoon saw the Rendezvous crew surfing along side the pros at clean 4ft Desperations. The Fiji Pro started on Monday with round one. Perfect 6-8ft barrels were breaking at Cloudbreak for the competition. The worlds best including Andy Irons, Occy and Danny Wills were surfing through the first heats and into Tuesday and Wednesday before the competition was postponed due to lack of swell. It is scheduled to resume on Monday with a big swell predicted.

We should see a clean solid swell and light winds predicted for next week.
